"LEGO: The best prototyping tool in the world"
Like many other kids, I grew up playing with Lego among many other things. Unlike most kids, I developed a high interest on Lego that has lasted since. For many years I couldn't wait for Christmas to come to get a new Lego set from Santa (that was, from my dear mom).
The Lego company has always had a large selection of sets for all ages, tastes and purposes. Being a more mechanically oriented kid, I found that the former Lego Technic sets were always the right ones for me.
Lego was so addicting that in many occasions during my teen years I preferred to stay home playing with Lego that going out with my friends. A few times my friends came home asking for me, I would instruct my mom to tell them I was sick so I could play with my Lego sets for hours and hours. My mom always commented how heartbreaking was for her to see my friends leave our house all sad without me. After a few similar incidents, my mom couldn't take it anymore and made me confront my friends and deal with them. I reluctantly tried to explain my affair with Lego but my friends never understood how playing with Lego could be more fun than playing with them.
Luckily for them and for me, I suppose, this addiction did not last forever and eventually I joined them more often and played soccer or chased girls together like any normal kid my age would do.
Nevertheless, as years passed and I kept accumulating more Lego sets, I learned to create my own inventions and prototypes instead of just building and rebuilding the sets that came with the box instructions.
Today, every time I come up with a mechanical idea, I go back to my neatly organized Lego box and begin creating with the same enthusiasm I had as a 10 year old.

Super HelicopterLego Helicopter
Created in year 1992
- I created this helicopter with parts from another heli and plane kits. I have kept it intact since I built it in 1992.
Lego StackerLego Stacker
Created in year 2002
- Prototype of vacumless veneer stacker and grader. Built with Lego Technics parts and radio operated.

It has been always very difficult having to destroy creations to get parts to build new ones. When I was 16, I created a helicopter and decided to never break it apart. I only disassembled it partially to put it inside my suitcase when we moved to Canada in 1997. Today it remains intact on top of one of my bookcases collecting dust. Because I may have to eventually destroy it, I decided to take some digital pictures of it and immortalize it in a poster on my bedroom wall.
My most recent Lego creation is the Lego stacker. To find out more about it and the heli click on the thumbnails above.
